May The Hungriest Dog Win!

One of our stranger Thanksgiving traditions is a giblet-eating contest between our three dogs. I think it's the highlight of their year! Once the giblets are cooked, cooled and cut--they are distributed evenly on three plates and then the fun begins!

When the contest is over they stagger to their kennel and spend the rest of Thanksgiving in a triptophan stupor. It's sort of a win-win for everyone involved!

We made a video of the contest this year and Andy did some fun editing on it. He is feeling better by the way--sort of got his appetite back but still has a really bad sore throat. I took him to the doctor and the rapid strep test was negative, but we'll see what the overnight one says.

Anyway, here's the video!

Okay, the music for that video? Perfection and hilarious! :)

My dad always gives the giblets to my mom's dog(s) at Christmas, and then the dog(s) will crawl under the dining room table in their stupor while we're gathered for Christmas dinner, and thereby blast the assembled family and friends with some of the rankest, stankest, giblet-induced gas throughout the meal.

Maybe that is just the effect of giblets on poodles, though..... :P

Thanks for the morning chuckle!

I was so excited to watch, and the second it started and your three started barking, My dogs went nuts and woke up the babies. Your circus came right through the internet 2000 miles away and into my house! CLASSIC!

We gave our doggies turkey too & told my husband - they want to have Thanksgiving too - especially after waiting patiently with the smells of turkey drifting in the air....

What a good idea for the giblets. I'm sure the dogs just love it as you could tell by the video. I love the end when the dog is looking straight into the video like...more?? haha. Have a good day!
