The Power Of The Blog-Block Gods!

Yesterday I was reading a funny post on Happy Meals and Happy Hour--a bird flew into Happy Hour Sue's office and she thanked the "blog-block gods" for her good fortune. I've been feeling sort of bloguninspired lately and I commented to her (something like) "Please ask the blog-block gods to send me a bird (or really any wild animal will do) because I got nothin'."

Ask and ye shall receive:

This is my new baby bunny friend. Her name is Bunny Dumpling.

When I was picking up the kids at school today there was chaos out in front as a bunch of kids were chasing and taunting this poor baby. It almost got hit by a car--twice--and a kid was about to pour water over it when I scooped her up.

I have "nursed" a few baby bunnies in my time--most of them rescued out of the mouths of my dogs--and I've become something of a pro at it! I decided that it made more sense to rescue the bunny than leave it to the whims of the children and cars. I still have my supply of kitten formula and tiny bottles but I was out of acidophilus powder which you need to add to the formula to help with their digestion.

I went to two pets stores--neither of which had acidophilus--and I ended up at a GNC store which had a good supply. I'm pretty sure I may have been the only customer in the store all day, as the GNC guy would not stop talking. I did have an interesting conversation with him about "ear candling" and an experiment where you light a rag on fire inside a jar and place a hard-boiled egg in the jar opening. Apparently the heat will cause a vacuum and suck the egg in. The same principle holds to ear candling. Maybe I'll do this experiment with the kids and blog about it? (The jar not the candling--or maybe I should do the candling too?) Maybe a video?

Anyway, back to Bunny Dumpling....
Oh, she's cute!! I fed her with the bottle tonight and she didn't eat a lot--but she did take some. I will try again in the morning. I usually keep my bunnies until they are eating solid food regularly, then release them.

So if that blank computer screen has you blue--get down on your knees and pray to the blog-block gods. Maybe you'll get a chipmunk? Or a squirrel? Or at least a weird conversation with a guy about ear candling!

All hail the blog-block gods!!!!

Oh, he/she is so cute. And I can't help but wonder why that kid was about to pour water on it?! What have the parents taught that crazy child?
I'm so glad you're taking care of Bunny Dumpling!

He is the sweetest little thing! Kids can be so mean to animals. My kids love animals and hate to see anyone mistreat them. Thank you for getting him and taking care of him!

So cute...You and the bunny. I did ear candling once, kinda weird. Are you keeping him / her or letting it go?

What a sweet little dumpling! My nine year old has a bunny as a pet, and we ALL love it-but she isn't as sweet as your little guy. I won't be praying for a wild animal though, thanks-we have plenty!

I don't think I'll be praying for any wild animals. I have enough coworkers to fit that genre.
:)

But I could use some blog-block help!

What a cute little bunny - I'm so glad you stepped in to rescue it!

I asked and received a nice pile of runny dog poo. Don't think that would make as cute of a post. Ya think?? LOL

You are hilarious and such a mother hen. I bet if you found some abandoned eggs you would sit on them to hatch. This is why you have five children, you are sweet to the core.

Hi Everybody! So far, so good w/ the bunny--she "nursed" very well today!

Mariah--Yes, I'll let her go when she's old enough.

Aubrey--Sometimes dog diarrhea makes for the funniest of posts! The blog gods may have answered your call!

Cathy--I actually did try to hatch some eggs once *blushing*. But the "bird police" made me turn them in. I'll leave that for another blog!!

She is just too cute. I don't need to wish for any more wild animals at my house tho. We get an assortment already. We have a possum that has taken up residence under our deck. She had babies..because when I went outside the other night I happened to stumble upon them. Do you know they hiss like a cat...there were baby possums everywhere..LOL

Oh, no, no, no... no praying to the blog-block-gods for me! I have enough wildlife in my house without actually adding nature to the mix! HA!

Bunny Dumpling is cute though! I would rather have her than a bird in my house!
