Block Party!

This afternoon our neighborhood had our annual block party. I'm so tired I feel like I've been run over by a truck! Don and I are always put in charge of games--which is the highlight of the party for the kids!
We did:
Hula hoop contest (which Teddy ALWAYS wins). He can literally hula hoop for hours.
Then there was water balloon toss--which is hands-down the kid favorite! My boys spend a good part of the morning filling them up. I'm not kidding when I say there were hundreds!
Then there was the egg on a spoon race.
With a lot of this all over the street when it was over!
And the local fire department brought a truck over for the kids to play on.
Pickle does the fire helmet and pearls very well!
Here she is on the truck:
And finally--this child was carrying around the largest cup I have ever seen! Does anyone need this much beverage??
I'm going to crawl off to bed now--but I also want to say thank you for all the sweet words about poor Bunny Dumpling--I really appreciate it!!

What FUN! These days, whenever I see one of those red-carpet events where the buzz is all about what the celebrities are wearing, I half expect to see Pickle smiling for the cameras in her latest stunning outfit.

I wish our neighborhood had a block party and you were there to organize the games!

You make me wish I had a 'hood again.

We left a great neighborhood behind and came to a property that is still an a neighborhood but very isolated. I have literally no neighbors even though we are surrounded by them. The only houses meeting our property have bachelors.

I miss women neighbors that hug you and notice your hair is just a slighly different shade than the last time.

I miss women neighbors that say "I love what you did with your gardens this year."

I miss women neighbors that nod knowingly when your husband is trying to do something without reading the directions.

I DO NOT miss other women's children at all hours of the day collecting at my house and eating my snacks and using my bathroom.

Whew. Great post and if I was going back to a 'hood I would wanna be in your 'hood and your children could come in and eat and pee and I wouldn't care.

Holy crap, that cup is huge! I hope there wasn't soda in it, he would be awake bouncing off the walls and peeing for days!

(And, I'm so sorry to hear about Bunny Dumpling. You were an angel for rescuing her.)
