No American Idol For Me...

Well, according to Gooser anyway--apparently he doesn't like my singing!
Ever since Andy starred in Oklahoma last spring it seems I have the soundtrack from the musical continually playing in my head. While Andy was in the rehearsal stage, we were eating, sleeping and breathing Oklahoma. The songs are catchy and they stick like glue--I can't stop singing them!!

Poor Gooser has been home sick for the past couple of days with a cough (he seems better and will probably go back tomorrow) and I think my singing is bothering him.

This morning I burst into "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning" and he put his hands over his ears and said "Please stop singing, Mommy!" Of course, I continued to sing and he ran off to draw some pictures.

Evidently he was working out his frustration through drawing.

This one is supposed to be me singing. Notice how it is crossed out--meaning no singing allowed! Also note the maniacal look on my face and the sharp rat teeth
This next one is a self-portrait of how Gooser feels when I sing--mad.
Here we have his alter-ego, Batman, also troubled by my singing:
Then he drew this bizarre portrait of me:
Here's a close-up of the face:
I asked him why one eye was so huge and he said "Because one of your eyes is big and one is small and one of your nostrils is big and one is small." Note the nostrils--one on top of the other!

Wow--I feel so attractive! And self-conscious. OMG--do I have one larger eye and nostril?? You might see me on an upcoming episode of Dr. 90210 for some recontructive work!

Anyway--I guess I have to curb my singing. At first, I thought maybe he was just sick of the Oklahoma soundtrack--but he wasn't happy with my rendition of "We Will Rock You" in the car either...

You thought you were getting away without a bunny pic didn't you? Not so fast! Here is Andy dressed up in his tuxedo for tonight's band concert (they're actually broadcasting it on TV!) and I thought he looked like a magician so I had him pose with the rabbbit...
Abracadabra!!

Emma just told me yesterday to stop singing Raspberry Beret in the car. And I really like that song. Kids!

Love the bunny pic!

This post cracked me up, Jen. It's very interesting to find out how our kids see us, isn't it? hehehe.
I hope lil' Gooser feels better soon.

And, give that precious white fluffykins, Dr. Hoppy a kiss for me! :D

Worry not, from what I can see your eyes and nostrils are equally sized and correctly placed. :)

Don't feel badly... I'm not allowed to sing in our house, either! Even Emma (2) plugs her ears & tells me to stop!
Great drawings by Gooser! He did a great job but I don't think he's right about the eye & nostril... your's look the same to me! LOL
Love the bunny pic... Andy definitely looks like a magician.

Hehe. LOVE the drawings - tell him he could give Picasso a run for the money! Too funny about him not wanting you to sing. Greg tells me I can't hold a tune to save my soul!

Love the portraits. - My little guy is 19 months old and I'm sure he'll be criticizing my singing in the car any day now!

When our youngest was just a baby if I sang she cried, when I stopped she would stop crying. Sheesh... I can take a hint!!!

He does look like a magician -- cute photo!

I can relate - I am incapable of successfully carrying a tune! Doesn't stop me from singing in my car, in the shower, or at church.
:)

And - your nostrils and eyes look very normal & balanced to me!

Lastly - how cute is Dr Hoppy! I love the pictures.

the more my kids complain, the louder I get. Only Owen, who is two, still thinks I sing like Maria Von Trapp. I LOVE the portraits-very becoming! :)

My mom sang ALL the time when we were kids. I mean every waking second! And it drove me nuts at times.
So I am a little self concious of this, because apparently it is in the genes, and I catch myself doing it ALL the freaking time.
The songs from "Annie" are a favorite!

Oh, and that tux with the bunny is toooo cute!

How funny! The pictures he drew of you are great! LOL

My husband brought home the new Rock Band game this past weekend. Guess who he has enlisted as the lead singer??? Me. I think I saw him wearing earplugs last night.

Awww....I love his pics....but I don't think the big eye and nostril thing is true. I'm going to defend you on that one.

I hope Gooser is feeling better. I just took Z to the doctor today for the same thing....he's got the croup!

I love that pick of Andy the Magician and Dr.Hoppy....I love daily bunny pictures.....I really do.

I was going to ask how the rabbit was doing! lol
I love his pictures, and I gotta tell ya, no matter how well you sing...if you sing "Oh what a beautiful morning" to me IN THE MORNING, my drawings of you would not be flattering either.

Jennifer you had me laughing so hard I got tears in my eyes!
