Today I used my new Rolleiflex for the first time--I took a couple rolls of Pickle, then we headed downtown to hit the streets and try to get some interesting people pictures. Point blank--I totally chickened out. I saw so many cool people that would have made great subjects--a policeman with long crazy hair smoking a pipe, a punk rock couple in colorful clothes, a homeless man holding a Dunkin' Donuts cup--so many great possibilities, but I was too scared to ask them if it was ok to take their picture.
I think I need a standard line to approach people--I don't ever want to come off as creepy or anything--so if anyone has a great suggestion as to how I can approach a stranger and ask if I could take their pic, I'd really appreciate it!
So I've taken the film in to be developed and when it's done, I'll have to figure out a way to share it with you--maybe I can scan them?

They found a home today on a sculpture I'm working on. It's not finished yet--but I'll give you a glimpse of it thus far:
Basically it's a baby's head on a squirrel's body.
It won't be too much longer until I see the flowers and grass again!!
A bunch of huge empty cardboard boxes.
And played with them all afternoon.
When Don got home and the saw the boxes, I saw complete panic in his eyes. I think he thought I went on a crazed post-Christmas shopping spree. He was relieved they weren't the remnants of my purchases, but mad that he had to haul more crap out for recycling.
Well, except for Pickle's tea party stuff and Meow-Meow (she's in the bed in this pic). That's been a big hit!

And this is one from yesterday--we went on yet another visit to the American Girl Place. Doesn't she look cute in her matching coat and hat?
Whew--I'm tired! I jut got back from an annual Christmas party at our neighbor's--we go Christmas caroling then back to their house for chili and dessert. It's so much fun and the kids just love it when we come to the door singing.
And here's the idea of how it looks when unfolded.
Cool, right? It's such a great feeling to have an idea in your head and be able to execute it just the way you'd hoped! Thanks again 
Of course, for an eleven year old boy, it's the best thing in the world!
Speaking of candy, we also received the delicious chocolate-covered cookie dough that I ordered from

What a party animal!!
Totally not worth the wait, right?? But it's kind of cool. Here's a close-up:
To recap--I bought this painting about a million years ago in a hospital thrift store. It used to hang in a children's hospital but was taken down because it "scared the children." They also told me it was by a famous artist--but I Googled the artist's name tonight and it didn't come up with anything.
