Is This Possible?

I sort of don't even want to write this, because if I do, that means I'll have to stick to it...

I'm thinking of trying to NOT watch t.v. for a month and, instead of that, just work on drawing and painting. I figure that if I devote that much time to it I will make a huge improvement.

There are a couple of problems with this plan--

A). I LOVE t.v. and I will definitely miss it.
B). I am usually exhausted at night and basically just crash in front of the t.v.--so I'll need to get a major second wind in the evening.
3). I get very easily discouraged--so if I'm working on a drawing/painting I don't like, I will be very tempted to throw in the towel and give up on the whole business.

So, as you can see, this is going to be a challenge!! Also, I haven't exactly been doing that great on my New Year's resolutions--so I don't have a very good track record.

In order to make myself stick to this, I will mention what I have worked on that day instead of watching t.v. on my blog.

Do you think I can do it? I hope so--because I'm frustrated with my lack of progress and I know the ONLY way to get good is to practice.

We were going to give up TV for lent, but decided that was complicated since I am a SAHM.
Instead we decided to give up TV from 7-8 prime time when everyone is home, to dedicate our time to family time.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

You CAN DO IT!!! I had to give it up for 7 days... & that's HUGE for me.. I'm a total TV addict!!! Why not start with a small goal & then see if you can go a month?

You'll be fine - make the kids entertain you :-)

You can do it!! I contemplated it the other day and after I stopped laughing (45 minutes later), I came to terms with the fact that I can NOT. TV is my friend. Sad, but true.

I have faith in you...but I could NEVER do that! Good Luck.

I definitely think you can do it...and that it will be healthy and fun...once the shock wears off! But I do recommend letting yourself have other entertainment options in the evening too... for instance if you get frustrated painting, you can read a book or surf on the computer...

That is tough to do. My TV always seems to be going in the background...good luck!

Jenny, you need to do at least 100 gestures per evening, and we'll check to make sure you're not goofing off!

I should totally take this challenge too.

Oh goodness. I love my tv too... and I always fall asleep with it on so I don't know if I could ever do this.

You can do it Jen! I don't have cable at home for the fact that I would probably just get addicted to it and watch it ALL day.

No worries--I'll watch your TV for you. Just send me a list of your shows and I'll cue them up!
