This is Dumb...

Well we had the showing on our house today and the feedback was about the dumbest I've ever heard--the realtor said they really liked the house and spent almost an hour here, but in the end they decided it was "too big."

Too big??

That's a new one on me! I mean, I know people downsize when the kids get older and stuff-but this is a family with young kids. Maybe they didn't like it and were just trying to be nice?

Besides, our house isn't even that big!

Don and I joked that maybe they should just buy it and wall off some of the rooms they don't need!

Oh well, onto the next showing...

How frustrating! You know, the right family will come along and they will love it as much as you all have over the years! I know it's tough waiting and wondering when. But it WILL happen. Don't give up and stay positive! Have you read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne? If not, I highly recommend it! I think we talked about it once a long time ago. It's based on basically the power of positive thinking. And trust me, girl, I've tested it just to see. Let's just say I was never able to say "Ha! I knew it wouldn't work!" :) Good luck!!

Too big is a new one on me too! At first, when we built our home it seemed huge and then Abby & Emma came along with 2 of everything and now I wish it was slightly bigger!

Ugh! Keeping my fingers crossed for the next showing!

wow, they spent an HOUR in your house??? What were they doing all that time? I've not been house hunting for a while, but maybe they were just "lookers" out to spend some time. Hope you get a serious looker soon.

Oh I'm so sorry the people didn't instantly fall in love with the house and make an offer. I was thinking of you and sending "good house showing" vibes your way; this isn't what I was hoping to read for an update! :(

Maybe they'll think it over some more and change their minds....? Or maybe this was a tactic that they're trying to use to get you to lower the price? Like "It's too much house but if it only cost X then it would be doable"? I mean, an HOUR in the house to then decide it is "too big" seems a bit ridiculous. Humph!!

We have the realtor coming over today to take the pictures for our listing. I bought a bunch of daffodils for the kitchen with you as my inspiration. :) I am not nearly so talented as you are in the flower arranging arena, hence one, simple bunch of daffodils stuck in a vase.

I hope the perfect buyer comes along SOON for you!! Hang in there!

I think they love the house and what they really meant is the price would be a stretch for them and they were frightened!
I think that because they spent an hour there...you don't need to spend an hour some place to know it's "too big" but you do if you are struggling to make a decision!
Don't be surprised if they change their mind in a couple of days! :)

Seriously...I've heard of houses being too small, but too big? Outrageous.

Good Luck with the next one!

'Too Big' , that is a weird one. I like big houses.

Seems even weirder that they spent an hour there and then came up with that. I agree with the others that suggested that what they really meant was that they thought the price was a little too big for them and it may be a tactic to get you to lower it..

Keeping my fingers crossed for you...

Hang in there, Jen. Hopefully, the next showing will be your buyers!

Have a good weekend!

That's annoying...maybe she just didn't want to clean it all!

I remember all the crap we went through when we sold our house. Egh, I don't wish it on anybody!

Hopefully someone buys it soon and you can be done with it all!

As far as I'm concerned a house can never be too big. Ever. But some peeps are real cheapos when it comes to heating and they want a microcasm to live in. Whatever. They knew the square footage before they got there so basically they just wasted everyone's time.

I can't imagine saying that a house is "too big"... it seems like you always run out of room when you have kids. Hopefully you'll sell it soon!
