All Over The Place!

This was a non-stop busy day!

Pickle started the day all squeaky clean

and the boys looked great when they posed in the lobby for our morning pic:
First stop: Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles. One of our favorite places and also Snoop Dogg's favorite restaurant!
Gooser hearts chicken and waffles! If I ate like this every day--I'm pretty sure I'd be dead. But it's sooooo good!
Patrick with his plate of deliciousness.
Just to do things up right, we also had fried chicken livers, candied yams, macaroni and cheese and corn bread. I think we all need to see a cardiologist as soon as we return home!

Group shot! I'm pretty sure Snoop Dogg's table is the one at the far right.

After breakfast, we headed off to the freak show that is Hollywood Blvd. Almost immediately upon arriving, Gooser spotted his hero--BATMAN!! Kind of a creepy Batman, but Gooser didn't care.
Then Teddy and Andy insisted on posing with Tigger--I'm pretty sure he had fleas or maybe lice--he was grungy!!
Then--our first celebrity sighting! Not a major celebrity, mind you--but one the kids were SUPER excited about:

The guy from the Oxy Clean commercials!!

His name is Billy Mays--the kids knew that. I didn't...He was very nice though.
Then it was off to the Ripley's Believe It Or Not museum. Here's Pickle running around (she's holding a "Wet-Nap" from Roscoe's that she refused to put down):
We saw some of my favorites, like the two-headed baby:
And the two-headed sheep:
I guess I like two-headed things...

We stopped by Grauman's Chinese Theatre:

This is for Heather!!
And who do we have here? Jason Mraz? Shifty from Sober House? No--it's Don in his funky new hat!
After that, we went to this crazy-time store called Necromance. It has all kinds of weird skeletons and taxidermy stuff. The stuff was so cool, but the people that worked there were SO mean! I don't know what their problem was! Anyway, I got some squirrel feet...
Then we took a drive to visit the neighborhood Don grew up in. The boys are standing on the site of his family home that was wiped out by a flood when Don was a little kid. His family had to evacuate immediately--not even allowed to stay long enough to rescue their cats--and their house and all belongings were washed away...Can you imgine??
Pinkberry Break!!! Pickle is in another new dress--I don't know why I even bothered packing anything for her!
Here are the posters for the upcoming HBO movie of Grey Gardens (premiers April 18!). I can't wait!!
Then we went to this totally funky and fun gallery called Le Luz de Jesus. I knew it wouldn't disappoint when I saw the giant eyeballs painted on the outside!
It was an art gallery, but also a supercool store--you could have spent the whole day looking at all that crazy stuff! The kids totally loved it.

Gummy maggots!!!

Bacon-flavored jelly beans!
We bought this painting in the gallery:
Right up my alley, no?

By now, it was time for dinner, so we headed off to a Morrocan place called Dar Mahgreb. This was so fun! You could on little sofas or on cushions on the floor.
Pickle and Patrick loving the laid-back seating arrangements!
First, the waiter comes around and washes everyones hands. Here's Pickle:
Then some bread that you dip into carrots, eggplant and stuff:
Then a bunch of other stuff--soup, a flaky pastry chicken thing....Here is the meat and couscous course:
And the dessert--fruit, honey-soaked pastry and a delcious sweet and spicy tea:
But the best part of the evening was the belly dancing! She came around and Andy immediately started dancing with her (he's crazy like that!):
Then all the kids (well, except Gooser--he was being shy) got up to dance with her!
Pickle loved it most of all! She continued dancing for the rest of the evening--we're pretty sure she wants to be a belly dancer when she grows up!
And I don't know if it was the spiced meats or his magical new hat--but Don got in on the action too!!
Then we officially corrupted Andy by letting him tip the belly dancer in, as she put it, the "Belly Dancer's Vault."

Whew! What a day!! Now stop by Candid Carrie's and check out some more phun!!

I can't wait to tell my hubby that you had chicken & waffles at Snoop Dogg's fave place! He loves Snoop and will get such a kick out of that.
Glad you're having a good time!

Wow! You guys know how to party! I think I wanna hang out with you guys!

I love that you all went to Roscoe's - to funny but sounds like good food! The Ripley's was kind of freaky. I love Don's new hat by the way & I vote he looks most like Shifty! I love that Andy tipped the belly dancer - Heehee! And finally, I think you may need some "eyeball" therapy Jen. The painting definetly is strange but cool. The eyeballs follow you!

I posted about Pickle on

you'll find it.

Have to apologise, used Marcy's name not yours, put it down to old age.

DON'T show Pickle the picture! You'll never hear the end of it.

WOOOOOOOOOO!

Thank you for my picture!!! That wasn't there yet the last time I was in LA (which was all the way back in late '02), so I haven't yet been able to put my hands in George's, even in the cement version. ;)

LOVE that butterfly dress! I wish Kiddo would wear dresses more - I used to put her in the cutest sundresses when she was smaller, but now that she's a "big kid" she pretty much refuses skirts or dresses unless we're going someplace that requires them, like church or a party.

I would love a bag of gummy maggots. That is AWESOME. :D

This was a great Phriday Photo Phiesta! Hope you guys enjoy the rest of your trip!!

Looks like you guys are having a great trip! One thing about Batman though. He IS crazy. Check out the documentary 'Confessions of a Superhero.' You all should come down to Long Beach one night and eat at Open Sesame on 2nd St. Best lebanese food ev-ah!

How much fun! I am really upset that our local chicken and waffle place shut down recently. Not really a common place in the midwest.

Kudos to the boys for getting up and belly dancing. I actually take classes and know how hard it is. Glad they had fun with it!
