My Glass Fx4

Happy Friday! This week flew by for me--maybe because of the Monday holiday? Anyway, it's time for Candid Carrie's Friday Foto Fiesta!! Please go over and join in the phun!!

Since I showed pics of some of my painting last week I thought I'd show some of my glass this week. I'm a glassblower (though I've slacked off and haven't done it in a few months) and these are pics of some of my paperweights--but paperweights are solid worked and not blown.

I like to make paperweights when I'm in the hot shop (that's glass talk!) by myself. If my partner is there, then we blow--but it's hard to do alone.

I'm probably going to get some freaks visiting my blog from Google after all this blowing talk! Hi freaks! Sorry--just talking about glassblowing--you'd better go now.

So anyway, I make a lot of paperweights because they're easy and I can experiment a lot with color, etc. A lot of these have glass beads (that I also made) inside of them. And a lot of the beads are of eyeballs because I have a thing for eyeballs. Oh, the iridescent-looking stuff is called dichroic glass. I love it and I use it a lot!

Thanks for looking!

Thank you Eveybody--I appreciate it!

No--I haven't really sold any. I've donated some to school benefits (for silent auctions) and I've given them away for gifts.

I suppose one of these days I should get my act together and think about selling them?

And, yes, they have flat bottoms.

Also, Ronda--glassblowing is pretty difficult, but paperweights are not too hard as there's no blowing involved, just shaping the solid glass.

Wow! I am so impressed! These are gorgeous. Love the colors. I've heard the glass blowing is incredibly difficult. Good for you! You should sell them on Etsy!

Hi Jennifer, These are gorgeous!

I've been super busy this past week with a death in the family, (my mother-in-law who I moved her to take care of this past year), a new birth (as you know, I'm a grandma) and my youngest turning 11. (today)

I miss blogging but haven't found the time and have been just too tired. Stopped by to see if anything new was happening with you.

Oh my goodness, Jennifer! Those are amazing! You are so talented. How on earth do you find time with five kids to keep up a blog, painting and glass blowing? You are officially wonderwoman.

These are so pretty! They would make gorgeous bowling balls (if, of course, they were the appropriate size).

Beautiful! I love the colors you've used!
I have two friends that are glass blowers. It always amazes me what creations come from glass blowing.
Your work is amazing!

I'm not so thrilled with the eyeballs cuz eyeballs sort of creep me out. But the others are ab-so-lutely
