I LOVE thrift stores and I had the opportunity to do some fun thrifting the other day when Patrick was invited to a 70s-style disco party.
I had been to a funky thrift store a few weeks prior and noticed that they had these really 70s ruffled tuxedo shirts in pastel colors, and I thought they might work for Patrick's disco outfit. So I took the whole gang to check out the store--turns out, they all love thrift stores too! It helped (particularly in Pickle's case!) that the store also had an elaborate candy display. Pickle was happy in her stroller with a bag of Sugar Babies while the rest of us perused the goodies.
Andy found some shirts that were right up his alley--an authentic mailman's shirt!
And a Holsum bread delivery guy's shirt:
Here he is posing with bread for extra authenticity:
The ruffly shirts were amazing and the colors were all so great it was hard to choose--but we went with lavender. Patrick has really captured that bleary-eyed disco haze in this pic, don't you think?
And here I forced him to strike a disco pose:
Finally, here he is fully discoized and ready to party!
P.S. I had a nice long conversation on the phone today with my new best friend, Mr. Howell! He was inviting us to a lecture about the architect of his house over the weekend. Good sign? I hope so!!

Your kids always look SOOOO happy! You have to be the coolest mom ever!!!
Love the shirts.. the disco one is FANTASTIC! Especially with the hair slicked back & the gold chain!!! Makes me want to throw on some Bee Gees right now & do a little "hustle"
Patrick is totally rocking or should I say discoing the look!
Yes...it does sound like a good sign about the house.
Groovy!
I love love love thrift stores!!
GREAT finds!
Love the shirt, I so remember those!! So are you going to the lecture???
Yes--I'm going to the lecture! It also involves a tour of the house later in the day which I'll go to too.
Patrick looks like he's "Stayin Alive" in those clothes.
I love thrift stores too!
Patrick looks so cool - I am always fascinated to read about your lovely gang.
Those pictures are hysterical...especially the last one!
I used to work in a 70s themed club and we had to dress the part. I had a ball hitting the thrift stores and picking out clothes. Hysterical to think that people actually wore that stuff...for real.
those are great shirts.
I am loving the hair and shirt!
And that bread shirt rocks!
Those are so cute! I love the lavendar ruffles and the gold chain...nice touch. And the slicked back hair.
I think it takes a true artist to shop at thrift stores. I myself am just a crafter, and I head to the mall every time! Impressive finds, Jen.
