A few days ago, my kids started their own "business." They've been hard at work at their "office" in the basement thinking up money-making schemes--pet sitting, doing odd jobs around the house, etc.
Apparently the plan is for them to save up money so they can buy a fish tank for the new house. They saw these cool neon fish at the pet store and that's what they want--so they have called their business "NeoFund."
Part of their planning has been assigning job titles to each other--Andy and Teddy are the CEOs (the fish tank is to go in their room), Patrick is the salesman, Pickle is the Vice President (??) and poor Gooser's title is "Janitor."
To add insult to injury, not only is Gooser the janitor in their business scenario--they have given him a "uniform" that he is required to wear every day.
Note the name tag: "Hello I'm Gooser. JANITOR."
I don't know if you can tell in the pictures, but his uniform looks like the remains of what once was a George Washington costume from a school assignment. It's a velvet jacket and pants and a ruffly white blouse--a la Jerry Seinfeld's "puffy shirt."
He has diligently been wearing it every day with out complaining--and, strangely, it actually really looks good on him! He might start a new trend?
So--my kids are really weird--but you have to give them points for creativity!

That aren't weird ...they are all smart...Do you own your own business?
That is so cute! I love that your kids are close enough to play/imagine/creative/involve each other-including all age groups!
And tell Gooser I think that Janitor is the BEST position:)
That is hilarious. Is he sweeping up around the place? I love that he goes along with it!
How awesome. I think that Pickle should be the PR person for the business :) Now let's see if any money will be generated by the new business out of Fun House basement.
I love it! My sister and I were very creative growing up and we tell our stories & laugh about it today. Creativity is the coolest, isn't it!
OMG! I can NOT stop laughing. He's so happy about it too!
One day he's going to remember this and it may not be fondly!
Hey, uh, what was that crud about making me the farkin janitor? Seriously guys!?
I love the stories you share.
That is hysterical! The costume, the job title. Awesome!
I totally busted out laughing at his "Name tag" & how its clipped on too! Love seeing Pickle peeking in the background too!
Creativity just must OOZE around your home! Totally loving he's engulfed the Washington jacket!!!
I LOVE it! When my brother was little he had an "office" too! He was a band manager, we were all in the band. My dad played guitar, my mom sang, I played the drums. It was so funny. He'd gather stuff from around the house and put it in his "office."
That is AWESOME and I think from now on, a Puffy Shirt should be mandatory for anyone doing any cleaning work. I'm going to go pick myself up one for my housework this week.... :D
I hope there are salaries or other compensation for those not the CEOs who will be getting the tank in their room, though! Puffy shirts alone are not enough!
That is hilarious!!! I love the outfit!
Check out my blog on Friday. My 5-year-old started a business too and I am posting about it then. It's good for a chuckle or two:-)
OK I choked on my dinner at the pic of Gooser! Your kids are so darned smart.
I think Gooser is absolutely handsome in his janitor getup! I love the business idea! I'd be willing to bet they will drum up some business from it! Tell them to remember the little ones who cleaned up there messes when it's promotion time! lol! That's too cute!
LOL! Poor janitor.
Hahahaha- they made him a name tag and all, eh? {cracking up}
That is all too funny. Isn't Gooser hot in that? Poor Janitor.
At least he doesn't "feel" ridiculed! He must feel like he is really helping out and that counts, doesn't it!
I am so laughing since I just saw that episode just 2 days ago and before I finished your blog I was thinking "Aww... he has on the puffy pirate shirt."
I love your kids.
Can we say entrepreneurial? I fully expect to read about your little ones starting a Fortune 500 company sometime in the near future! It helps that your brood is really stinkin' cute too!
One thing I love about this is that they included each other and that everyone had a job!
That's hilarious! I'm glad you blog so you'll all be able to relive these kinds of moments down the road. :)
