I like this shot of Gooser.
Here's Don posing with a tree we were considering--but we ultimately rejected it.And Teddy with a "baby" tree that we also rejected!
Pickle says "Get me out of here! I'm cold!"
When we got home we had our traditional tree trimming party which included lots of food.
Eggnog, of course!
Veggie platter--had to get those vitamins in! Pickle single-handedly ate all of the tomatoes.
Lil' Smokies!Assorted cheeses... ...and salami.
Mini quiches.Later we had cookies and hot chocolate--but no pics--sorry!Here are the boys hanging out by the fireplace. And Gooser dancing with our giant singing and dancing Santa--I know Jenni Jiggety will appreciate this! And here is the finished product:And with the boys (Pickle refused to be photographed.)A flashless shot:I love all my ornaments, but find that I am most attracted to are the vintage ones I have collected over the years.
I love this Santa in a hot air balloon. The balloon and Santa part is paper.
One of my many elves--I'm sure Candid Carrie will like him--or not!A pretty vintage bell:I like to clip these Santas to a lamp:And one more of Gooser by the tree.
My favorite quotes from tree-decorating:
Me (after I saw the tree in the stand): Why is it so big?
Don: That's what she said.
Then there's: "Just stick the stick up the angel's butt and stick it on the tree!"

A beautiful tree!! Looks like you had a blast! I am waiting to put the tree up until the house guest leaves. Should be Tuesday. I no longer hold my breath though. I have seen many such target dates come and go.
Wow, you're the mom!! Snacks and eggnog while decorating....love that!! The tree looks great, tell the kids good job!! My fave ornaments are the ones the kids picked out when they were little, little, each had a story to go with it!!
Fun fun! We put out tree up too- though Merrick could have cared less about it : )
Beautiful tree, Jen! =)
The tree looks great! I love the old fashioned ornaments, too. My mom has a bunch from her childhood and I now have some from my childhood, too! And that food spread looked great...I LOVE lil' smokies!
"That's what she said"
LOL!!! Shane and I do this, too! HA!
Tree looks great... I like the bell ornament. Very pretty!
I want to come to your house for the post Christmas tree party! You are officially my hero!
I love Pickle's new diva attitude! I grew up with those elves, I have a ton of them. What a great time you had!
Is that tree a Fraiser Fir?
It is beautiful... the tree, the kids, the food and Don is funny!
I am dying for some egg nogg...Not sure how WW feels about that!
Gorgeous Tree Jen!!
Wow what a gorgeous tree! Sounds like a fun day...used to love cutting down our own tree :0)
Your tree is beautiful! Looks like you had a wonderful time!
We had those EXACT elves when I was a kid. My mom would hang them on each of our doorknobs.
Very nice tree...looks like lots of fun!
You husband is a riot! I should have known that huh?
Your tree is gorgeous. I especially like the shot without the flash, very pretty picture. You have a beautiful tree and beautiful children. I know you are a busy woman! I enjoyed my visit today.
Your children are so lucky to have you guys as parents! What wonderful traditions you are already making!
lol at your quotes...
Woman, you are my hero. My kids usually get a crushed candy cane & half a bag of crushed chips for events like this!
Awesome tree. You are making me wish that we had ours. I want to smell that lovely evergreen smell.
Gorgeous tree!
I love vintage ornaments and have two boxfulls that have yet to be unpacked from the move here in the summer of '07! So many of them are elves, similar to the one you had a picture of in this post. They must be 40-50 years old and I love the expressions on their faces - almost identical to yours. Vintage ornaments rock!
Loved all your pics with the kids. And I love how you make a huge celebration of trimming your tree. We try and do that every year as well. Reading your post and seeing all of your wonderful pics has sort of boosted my spirits and I'm actually, for once, looking forward to trimming our tree this weekend.
Love it all!
I am notorious for - that's what she said - comments!!
