More Speed Cooking!

I wrote about this waaay back when I started my blog--but I was the only one reading at the time, so here I am writing about it again...

Last night I went to one of those places (some of them are called "Dinner By Design") where you prepare a bunch of dinners so you can stock up your freezer and have them at the ready. It makes the dinner situation each night so much easier.

The extra fun thing is that I went with a group of friends and we chatted and had some appetizers and wine while we prepared the dinners. It was like a party! The place it set up in stations and all the ingredients are sliced and chopped with the measuring utensils at the ready--so you can whip the meals together really fast!

Each station has step-by-step directions and you assemble the food in different-sized Ziploc baggies which makes storing it in the freezer pretty easy.

I went off the deep end though, and made way too many dinners--my freezer is maxed out!

Imagine--I made all this in less than two hours:

--Egg nog French toast with apple cranberry compote

--Harvest spice cake

--Maple and mustard glazed pork roast

--Moroccan beef

--Parmesan-crusted chicken

--Pork chops with bourbon sauce

--Spiked pork tenderloin with chutney

--Thai curry chicken

--Beef stroganoff

--Caramelized chicken

--French onion Salisbury steak

--Paella

--Artichoke and leek risotto

--Bacon Parmesan green beans

--Brandied candied sweet potatoes

--Butterscotch spice cookies

Whew! That's a lot! We had the caramelized chicken and the green beans tonight--it was all really good. Pickle went crazy for the beans because they had bacon in them.

So if there's anything like this near you--I highly recommend trying it. Especially if you can get together with a fun group!

sounds fun, and what a great idea! i NEVER make, or eat, green beans without bacon in them! i fry it up first then dump the green beans in the pot with the grease and all, add a little sugar, salt, and pepper.... YUM-O!

NICE! We had one of those places near my house, but it unfortunately couldn't survive and shut down over the summer. But I'll have to see if there's another one out there. Is it expensive to do?

And I agree with Pickle--everything tastes better with bacon!

Thanks for stopping by this morning!

If you need any help with storage, girl just ship em on down to Tn!!, LOL!!! We've got those here also. I was in one that would fix the meals for you for free if you joined their monthly ordering club. I did it until they went out of business but my hubby never got into it, he just didn't get it!!

Wow! We have something like that here but I have never gone. Is it expensive or would it be the same if you shopped for these dinners on your own? Just less hassle. LOL Sounds delish! And fun!!

I've been wanting to try this but it is a little pricey here... not as pricey as taking a whole family out to dinner but there's just two of us so I can't really justify the cost. I'd really like to try the thing where everyone makes a bunch of the same dish at home then you get together and give everyone one of what you've made... so everyone only has to deal with making one thing but you get a freezer full of different meals. I saw this on someone's blog but don't remember. Anyway, they all sound like great ideas and delicious meals!

We do have one of those close to us and I've been trying to get a group together for a while, but with lots of babies, it's tough. Those dishes sound amazing!

I got that as a baby shower gift. The food was good and in most cases all I had to do was turn on the oven. I'm going back!

What a cool idea! My cousin Holly (in Maryland) told me about something similar to this. We don't have anything like that in New Orleans :(

Not only are there several of these places near me... I even have a $150 gift certificate to one! That I've had for over a year now! But I've never been. I keep meaning to, but I just forget about it. I think my SIL would enjoy going with me.

Bacon Parmesan Green Beans... oh, man! That sounds delish!
