Snow Day!

Well the weatherman was right and the kids' dreams came true with the first snow day of the year. We received calls from robots early this morning announcing the good news.

Today would have been the last day before Winter Break so it would have been mostly parties and whatnot at school--probably little to no work--but they were thrilled nonetheless.

Andy and Teddy got very industrious and decided to shovel our entire driveway.
And they did an amazing job! As a "reward" they wanted to go to a shopping mall--so we slip-slided over to one and spent the afternoon getting a little extra shopping in. The older boys were cute because they brought their own money and bought presents for everyone in the family and, when we got home, wrapped them.

I made an impulse buy and got Don a fancy-schmancy pillow from Brookstone that is supposed to prevent snoring. It seemed like a good idea at the time--but I hope he's not insulted! It's more of a gift for myself I guess--if it works that is!

Yikes--five more days until Christmas! Are you ready? I'm feeling pretty good, but there are a few gift gaps I need to fill in. I'd like to finish up this weekend and glide on into next week without any frantic last-minute trips to the mall. We'll see!

We had our first snow day, too! We ended up with an ice storm... I would have rather had snow!

I think it's great that the boys wanted to go shopping for your family! That's so sweet!

I may have to invest in one of those pillows... then maybe I could get some sleep at night! :)

We had our first snow day too. 14 inches dropped in 12 hours. What a mess! My husband plowed our driveway when he got home from work because I was getting ready for a Christmas party that we are throwing today (Saturday:-).

Wow, you must have been so proud of those boys, taking initiative and then shopping for everyone on their own! Way to go, boys! So grown up!

No snow here yet. I'm optimistic, though, that Santa will bring us some of the white stuff. I'm feeling pretty good about Christmas, actually. I've got pretty much everything bought and shipped, just a few last minute things and I'm done. This is nothing short of monumental for me, as I have never been done before the 24th, if then. Maybe I am finally turning into my mom. There are worse things, I guess.

You will have to let me know if the pillow works... I've seen them @ Brookstone before, and wondered if one would work for Shane. Course, like you said... it would prolly be more of a gift for ME, than him! LOL!

Hmmm.... I wonder if those pillows would work on dogs... 'cause our dog snores a LOT louder than Shane does.

Seriously.

You are so lucky to have kids old enough to help shovel. Jeff made the comment well going out to shovel ours, "Sucks that the kids are not old enough to help."
;)

It was 72 here today...and on Thursday I was in Mobile, Alabama, sitting outside a restaurant veranda underneath palm trees with oysters on the half shell while Feliz Navidad was pumping through the stereo system...man, I miss snow!
