The Power Of The Blog-Block Gods!

Yesterday I was reading a funny post on Happy Meals and Happy Hour--a bird flew into Happy Hour Sue's office and she thanked the "blog-block gods" for her good fortune. I've been feeling sort of bloguninspired lately and I commented to her (something like) "Please ask the blog-block gods to send me a bird (or really any wild animal will do) because I got nothin'."

Ask and ye shall receive:

This is my new baby bunny friend. Her name is Bunny Dumpling.

When I was picking up the kids at school today there was chaos out in front as a bunch of kids were chasing and taunting this poor baby. It almost got hit by a car--twice--and a kid was about to pour water over it when I scooped her up.

I have "nursed" a few baby bunnies in my time--most of them rescued out of the mouths of my dogs--and I've become something of a pro at it! I decided that it made more sense to rescue the bunny than leave it to the whims of the children and cars. I still have my supply of kitten formula and tiny bottles but I was out of acidophilus powder which you need to add to the formula to help with their digestion.

I went to two pets stores--neither of which had acidophilus--and I ended up at a GNC store which had a good supply. I'm pretty sure I may have been the only customer in the store all day, as the GNC guy would not stop talking. I did have an interesting conversation with him about "ear candling" and an experiment where you light a rag on fire inside a jar and place a hard-boiled egg in the jar opening. Apparently the heat will cause a vacuum and suck the egg in. The same principle holds to ear candling. Maybe I'll do this experiment with the kids and blog about it? (The jar not the candling--or maybe I should do the candling too?) Maybe a video?

Anyway, back to Bunny Dumpling....
Oh, she's cute!! I fed her with the bottle tonight and she didn't eat a lot--but she did take some. I will try again in the morning. I usually keep my bunnies until they are eating solid food regularly, then release them.

So if that blank computer screen has you blue--get down on your knees and pray to the blog-block gods. Maybe you'll get a chipmunk? Or a squirrel? Or at least a weird conversation with a guy about ear candling!

All hail the blog-block gods!!!!
