Boxes...

This is going to be me life for the next few weeks:

I plan on boxing up as much superfluous crap as I can to make our house more saleable. Please forgive me if my blog starts to turn into nothing but musings on packing tape for awhile...

Meanwhile, we have scheduled the inspection of the new house for Saturday--that should be interesting as it's a 100 year old house and undoubtedly has some interesting issues!

But can I just stress/freak out for a second? Although we've been told that Mr. Howell has accepted our offer and asked that a few changes be made (like the amount of time we have to sell the house) he hasn't actually signed it yet. Our realtor isn't worried and says that he's just on his own weird time frame--but it makes me anxious!

Meanwhile I have a storage unit thing arriving tomorrow to put the boxes in and we need to tell the architect who's been working on our renovation about our new plans. I'm making Don tell him because I'm too scared to!

So...just a little stressed at The Fun House!

Oh, I hear you. I totally and completely relate - we just rented a storage unit last weekend (not one of those PODS thingies, though, so I have to drive 3 miles up the road to load ours up) and have begun decluttering so we can get our house on the market by April 1. :P

A little tip: we've found liquor stores to be *extremely* accommodating in giving us nice, sturdy boxes for free. The downside is that they're on the smaller side, though the upsides of that are (a) one can't make them overly heavy by cramming them full of books as I in particular am wont to do and (b) they fit nicely on the shelves we put up along the walls of our storage unit and are all roughly the same size and shape so they stack well even without shelves.

Good luck - I will be thinking of you as I'm packing up boxes myself!! :)

Yea...for you! Use the time to get rid of stuff you haven't used in years...give it to charity! I am going through stuff now...I didn't realize how many books I have collected...I could start a library!
I spoke to the librarian Saturday beause, again she said they didn't have a book I wanted. She said their funding has been drastically reduced. I am donating over 100 books and I feel so happy about it!
I think other organizations are experiencing similar circumstances!
Have fun with it...My Hubby is in total envy!

When you get done, think you could come do mine? :) :) :)

Good luck. I hate packing with a passion. :)

You will survive! How nice to unclutter. Tell Mr. Howell to get on the ball!

I am sure things will work out in the end. I hate packing too. I can empathize. Make sure no potential buyers read about the vermin.

I really, really hate packing. I generally wind up putting it off until the last minute and then spend three days in absolute frantic chaos trying to get my whole house ready for a move.

Packing- yuck. Moving into a new home- fun, fun, fun!

Mr. Howell sounds like a tool, Jen.

Share your moving journey with us, I'm living vicariously through you. ;D

When your half way through it you will think to yourself "How the HELL did we get here??" LOL

One thing that helped when we moved was to number each box and keep track in a notebook the contents of each box. This way you will know where everything is w/o having to unpack a zillon boxes!

Don't be stressed! Just think of that gorgeous new-to-you house! It will be so worth it!

I would be nervous about him not signing too.

I love moving! It is the perfect time to de-junk! I have more happy meal toys and crap all over this house and packing and moving is the best time to start chucking them!

I am so excited for you.

Can I just say, after coming back out here, I'm kinda glad we aren't putting our house on the market in May...just looking at your boxes gave me horrid flashbacks to buying and moving in here, back in July of '07. *lol*

We've still got all our fingers and toes crossed for you (I thought about crossing my eyes too, but that would just be weird...and people would laugh at me...oh and I'd probably walk into things) and wishing you all the best!

Oh , you are so lucky. Maybe. A 100 yr old house? Ours is about 70 yrs old and it was....interesting moving in. Yes, interesting indeed.

OMG that's stressful Jen. I wouldn't want to tell the architect either. I would rather bite off my hand.
