So Long Ferrets!

We have tons of pets--but I don't think I've discussed our ferrets too much on my blog. We've had them forever--I think about eight years, which is considered pretty old for ferrets. Although they're fun pets--sort of like a combination between dogs and cats, they are VERY smelly. I find that it's a constant battle to keep their cage clean so I eventually moved the cage to the basement so their weird musky odor didn't infiltrate the entire house.

Anyway, now that the house is on the market and I have to keep it clean and fresh-smelling 24/7, I decided that there's no way I can stay on top of the ferret odor situation--so they are taking a "vacation" at our very nice and very accommodating neighbor's house! Luckily, they have ferrets too so they know what they're getting into! I can't even begin to say how grateful I am that the ferrets aren't here right now--as much as I like them, my stress level just couldn't handle them right now

Here's Andy getting the ferrets ready for their getaway. That's Baby on the left and Creampuff on the right.

And here's Pickle saying goodbye to them as Andy loaded them into the travel kennel. You can tell she's about to lose it...
She lost it!
Poor Pickle!
I didn't exactly share her sentiments!

Oh--did I mention that over our big Open House Weekend, Teddy came down with Influenza B virus? UNCLE!!

Aww, poor baby! I feel so bad for her. She is so sad! But I know they make you feel less stressed (which is well worth it!). I never had ferrets but I had a bunny, 2 hamsters & a guinea pig & their smells were UGH!

The last picture makes me think she's saying "But WHYYYYYYYYY Mom??" all the while wailing in anguish! Poor baby!! Although I must admit, it made me chuckle. Those little drama queens of ours! I'm glad one less thing is on you right now and I hope this move and sell goes quickly! Poor Teddy! I hope he feels better soon!!

Ohhhhh, poor Pickle! Is it wrong that I think those are cute pictures of her? (Confession: I've photographed Kiddo in an equal state of distress myself before...)

Hope that many interested buyers have been through already so that the kids-n-ferrets reunion isn't too far off!

I know when we go on vacation or something big and involved, the animals are like the straw that breaks the camels back. When the time comes to drop them off to the kennel or whatever I feel like such a weight has been lifted off of me! Silly, but it does make such a differenc;)

Awww Pickle it'll be ok baby girl. Give Pickle a hug for me.

I don't want ferrets b/c of the smell. They are very cute and I would love to have them but I can't handle the smell. Sooo, I want a turtle. Hopefully this will be an easy one to take care of.

Hayden is very concerned about your Ferrets. I wants them to be very well care for. He is also sorry that Pickle, he likes her name, is sad.

That is what I get for blogging with kids. ;)

Awwwwww bless her wee little heart. I got tears in my eyes just looking at those pics. My three year old has a FIT any time we take Casey or Griffy or Gracie to the vet and even though we PROMISE her they are coming back, she doesn't believe it until she sees it. I don't even want to imagine what she'd do if one of them had to go away for an extended time.

I totally hear ya on the ferrets though. We had one in our zoology class and I used to hate walking in there in the mornings...sometimes it was a tad overwhelming!
