More Freakiness

Yesterday I showed you my freaky monkey and today I want to introduce you to my kreepy klown. Remember when I was buying all that crazy stuff on eBay? I was getting some props that I want to use in paintings. I had Pickle pose with the kreepy klown the other day in hopes of getting a good shot that could possibly become a painting.

I thought the clown might be too scary for her and she wouldn't even want to touch it--but she warmed right up to him!

She looks so happy to be holding it...
But at some point I think she started wondering about its creep factor:
In this pic I think she's kind of not liking it anymore:
And this last one is my favorite and the one I will attempt to use for a painting. I like the light and the faraway look in her eyes...
Is this thing creepy or what??
It looks like something that might come to life and rise up in the middle of the night and kill us all!

Maybe in conjunction with the freaky monkey...

To be on the safe side, I've locked them both in the laundry room!

Crazy Time!

I told you a couple weeks ago about my totally wacky watercolor class--in the end there was the lady who looks and acts like a Cuckoo's Nest escapee, the stuttering mailman obsessed with pop-up books, and me.

Tonight when I showed up for class (this was the last one in the session, by the way) the Cuckoo's Nest woman was in the room alone. The lights were mostly off and she was seated at the table just looking down. She didn't respond when I said hi or when I tried to make conversation about finding the light switches. She just sat there...

So I went about my business--turning on lights, getting my paints out, filling up my water container.

She didn't budge--totally motionless.

A few minutes later, the front desk attendant came in to say that there was a change of location and the class was going to be conducted in the library downstairs. So I started packing my things up--but this woman was still just staring down at the table. I started wondering if I needed to repeat the information to her.

But the second I stood up, this woman bolted out the door ahead of me--like at top speed! She tore down the stairs and bypassed the library--heading for the exit. I started to say something, thinking maybe she didn't know where she was supposed to go--but she kind of glared at me and flew out the front door into the night.

Then the desk attendant ran after her and called out as she was running down the driveway. She asked if the woman was coming back and Crazy-Time responded "I haven't decided!"

My watercolor teacher was all like ???? and started to get all worried because obviously this woman isn't playing with a full deck and she was concerned for her safety--she said that usually someone is there waiting to drive her home.

So then it turned into a free-for-all of calls being made to the woman's home and people driving around searching for her.

About an hour later we got a call that she was back at home. We were told that she thought the class was canceled (????).

Unfortunately, the mailman didn't make an appearance tonight which is disappointing, as he certainly would have added to the freak show aspect of the evening's events!

Dining In The Dark?

I have been planning the details of our upcoming trip to California, including finding fun/cool restaurants and I came across this little gem--there is a restaurant in Los Angeles where you eat entirely in the dark!! I guess you start out in a lighted lobby area where you go over the menu and order, then you are escorted into the pitch black restaurant and served a three-course meal by blind or vision-impaired waitstaff who are specially trained to navigate around in the darkness. They also say "Special security measures are taken to make your experience both safe and enjoyable."

Apparently, the lack of sight really enhances your other senses making it a really unusual and "sensual" experience.

OMG Can you imagine how freaky that dinner would be?? I want to do it SO badly!! Unfortunately, something tells me Pickle would not be up for this dining adventure (though I'm sure my older kids would be) so it will have to wait for another trip.

Have any of you heard of this or tried it? Would you want to?

Speaking of freaky things, I can;t get enough of this song and video from Flight of the Conchords: "I Told You I Was Freaky." These guys are so crazy and this song is hilarious!!

Oh, and--Happy St. Patrick's Day! I'll be posting tomorrow our wearin' o' the green and our Irish feast!
